Guide: China leather net news. Conference on the Vietnam Leather and Footwear export trade promotion was held in Ho Chi Minh City on July 15th. This meeting was co-organized by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Luggage Association. 

 

“Trade and export capacity-building of leather and footwear” was the theme of this conference and it focused on the problems faced by Vietnam footwear industry, seeking solutions to solve internal problems and how to improve the exports of products of Vietnam leather and footwear effectively.  

 

More than 200 companies from Vietnam, Italy, the United States, Thailand, China Taiwan and Hong Kong attended this meeting. Some related issues about export potential of leather, footwear and luggage industry, market demand, current strengths and difficulties, outlet pressure, international trade barriers and improvement of products’ export competitiveness from 2016 to 2020 were discussed at the meeting. 

 

In recent years, as more and more foreign businessmen invested in Vietnam footwear enterprises directly, the export potential of Vietnam footwear improved dramatically. Export volume of footwear reached $10.22 billion in 2014. The products that the enterprises of foreign direct investment and joint ventures produced have exported to world’s main market and the export volume amounted to $7.93 billion.
